Painting with Cheryl Leonard
Express yourself in oils! Cheryl is offering an evening oil painting class designed for experienced painters. Emphasis will be placed on interpreting one’s reference to create a good composition. Color theory using transparent and opaque mediums will be taught. Explore the values of light and perspective. Painting demonstrations will take place.

General Portrait Painting For All Levels In Oil with Kevin Feary
Throughout this weekly course, each class will begin with a 1 hour demo of a painting I am currently working on from start to finish. Hours 2 and 3 will be devoted to working with you personally, painting portraits from your images.

color mixing, values and edges
finishing touches

General Landscape Painting For All Levels In Oil with Kevin Feary
In this weekly class we will design and paint landscapes from your photos. One hour demos will show you how I design and paint a landscape. Hours 2 and 3 will be devoted to working with you personally, painting any type of landscapes from your images, whether you prefer lake scenes, pastoral or architecture. All aspects of painting will be covered.

Drawing & Painting Trees in Watercolor with Elaine Liberio
Did you know there are over 60,000 known tree species? No, we are not going to cover all 60,000 in this class, but we will pick out a few to review their differences and how to paint them rather than just adding generic trees to your paintings.
In the first two weeks we will spend time drawing trees while learning to “see” what the different kinds of trees really look like. Then we will jump in with the watercolor, painting trees in different seasons of the year.
You will leave this class more confident and add a new dimension to your painting of trees in your watercolor landscapes. Material list. 5 sessions

PLEIN AIR Painting Wednesday Afternoons with Cindy Harris
Would you like to expand your painting skills to Plein Air (painting outside)? In this three session class we will start with the composition sketch, value study and creating a plein air painting! We will meet at 3 different locations in the Canandaigua area. Cindy will email students the day before the location. If it is rainy we will meet and paint a still life at the gallery. Moving Forward in Oil Painting Wednesday mornings in July and August with Cindy Harris
Spark your inner-artist with this class for both beginners and those re-awakening their oil painting passion. Learn the fundamentals of oil painting through Cindy’s method of painting impressionist landscapes and studio still life subjects in a relaxed class that covers basic techniques in a step-by-step, easy-to-learn method while allowing you to nurture your inner artist using a limited palette of colors. We will start with a value sketch, then using a limited palette explore value, light and shadow, color mixing, and other techniques that will help you create your own unique vision. Each session begins with a brief demonstration to get you started followed by one-on-one guidance from Cindy throughout the session. 3 Sessions.

Summer Evenings, Plein Air Painting with Steve BonDurant
Summer Evenings— Wednesday evenings of oil painting! We’ll explore the fundamentals of creating convincing landscape paintings, with emphasis on composition, value structure, depth via color temperature and atmospheric perspective, and finesse for a finish. Individualized instruction of how to make the most of completing the effort from the evening, plus a review of the previous week’s effort.

Colored Pencil Botanicals with Pat Tribastone, PSA Master
Learn the technique of using a combination of water soluble colored pencils and regular colored pencils to achieve beautiful results! Using hot press watercolor paper students will learn the layering process to create wonderfully detailed botanical drawings! All materials provided. 2 Sessions. All levels.

Alla Prima Oils with Pat Tribastone, PSA Master
Everyone loves to paint apples! In this two week class we will paint apples from life using the Alla Prima technique. On a 6x6 canvas you will learn how to depict shadows and light using beautiful rich colors! Materials provided. Join us for some painting fun! All levels.

Underpainting in Oil with Pat Tribastone
In this one day class explore the different styles of underpainting in oil.. Why do an underpainting, and how to go about it. The participants can work on a landscape, still life or portrait. Learn why an underpainting helps your final result in both value and color!
Materials: Students should bring their own canvas, panels, reference, oil paint and brushes. No solvents; we will be using solvent free gel which will be provided.

Oil Painting Value and Color with Pat Tribastone
In this class we will learn to match value and color in our paintings. Students will learn to paint over an underpainting and match the color to the value in order to complete a successful painting. Learn how to apply layers and glazes to your work!
Materials: Students supply their own canvas, panels, oil paint and brushes. Students can work on landscapes, still life or portraits. No solvents; we will be using solvent free gel which will be provided.
