Gail Schirmer

Gail Schirmer spent 25 years teaching art in New York’s public schools, and enjoyed decorating the school hallways, as well as nursing homes and other community venues, with her student’s work. One of her favorite projects was a week-long architectural workshop with Hampton artist, Joan Baren, who worked with young artists on their paintings of the historic buildings of downtown Medina. A graduate of SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Buffalo, Gail has also taught arts and crafts workshops for Hospice caretakers and led classes in visual/spacial relationships for teachers at the Chautauqua Institute.

For five years, Gail studied as a “Sunday painter” with Thomas Buechner, who became her mentor and friend. She is a member of the Naples Art Association and the Art League of Marco Island.

“Upon moving to Canandaigua in 2000, I was greeted with open arms by Pat Rini Rohrer, who is now a beloved friend and mentor. I have enjoyed working with Pat for the past twenty years, particularly on the annual Plein Air Festival.”
